Additional Info
Trivia:
  • Time Warner Cable added Wisconsin Public Television's additional digital subchannels (1, 3 and 4) in early April 2007. It already carried WPT5 (PBS HD) and WPT2 (WPT Cable) in its local digital channel tier. Time Warner is the first programming provider in the area to add these channels to its lineup. (April 9, 2007)
  • According to a search on the FCC website, WPNE has filed an application with the FCC to use Channel 38 as its permanent digital channel assignment after the analog shutoff occurs in February 2009.
  • On October 6th, 2008, Wisconsin Public Television streamlined their digital broadcast lineup from 5 channels and a staggered broadcast day to 3 channels full-time. Channel 38-1 went from a 24/7 standard-definition simulcast of WPNE's analog transmission to a 24/7 WPT/PBS high-definition channel. Channel 38-1 features Wisconsin PBS Kids and in-school programs during the day, The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer at 6 p.m. weekdays, how-to, music and entertainment programs on the weekend and the best educational, news and documentary programs from WPT and PBS each night - all available in high-definition when available.

Fox Cities TV (formerly Fox Cities HD) is an independent blog and reader-driven community for television lovers in the Green Bay, Appleton and Oshkosh, Wisconsin area.  We aim to be a place where TV watchers in Northeast Wisconsin can come to learn about what's happening in local (and national) television, interact with other TV viewers and express themselves about TV issues.

The website was created and is managed by Mark David Zahn, an avid Internet, entertainment and electronic enthusiast.  He currently resides in Appleton, WI, where he makes his living in radio and dabbles in computer building, web community building, independent media, high-definition TV and home theater.  Learn more about Mark on his FoxCitiesTV profile or e-mail him here.
