Time Warner adds Disney XD and Cartoon Network in HD; more coming weekly?

Cartoon Network HD
Time Warner Cable's Wisconsin division rolled out another pair of HD channels this morning, with Disney XD HD occupying channel 1102 and Cartoon Network HD on 1106.  The cable operator's website had not been updated this morning to reflect the new additions.

Cartoon Network HD is available to all standard cable customers with HD-capable cable boxes, while Disney XD HD is open only to subscribers of the Digital Variety cable package who already get access to the standard-definition channel.

This is the second double-channel addition for Time Warner Cable Wisconsin in the past two weeks.  They had promised in promotional literature that at least 10 new HD channels were coming before year's end.  According to an unconfirmed reader report that tipped off today's additions earlier this week, Time Warner Cable may be planning on rolling out a pair of new HD channels every week until the end of the year.

If true, this would mark a more gradual rollout of new channels than other Time Warner footprints across the country are experiencing, with some getting a bundle of 20 or more new channels all at once.  Many channels mentioned elsewhere have already been promised here, but others have not.

Time Warner Cable promising at least 10 new HD channels by year's end

AMC HD
After a drought of HD channel additions in the last several months across all pay TV providers in the area, Time Warner Cable is promising at least 10 new HD channel additions by the end of the year.

In a pamphlet posted online related to their upcoming channel reorganization, Time Warner says "before the end of the year, more HDs are coming, including ESPNU HD, Disney XD HD, Cartoon Network HD, BBC America HD, Turner Classic Movies HD, E! HD, AMC HD, Outdoor Channel HD, Headline News HD and FOX Business HD."

No word on when these new channels will be added, what packages they'll fall into or whether other channels are planned.

The pamphlet also breaks out what digital channels will fall into each of the new digital cable channel packages, though pricing is not specified.
