From E3- a planned future firmware update will add the ability to stream netflix movies to your Xbox 360. As a netflix subscriber and 360 owner, this will be something that I am looking forward to. When netflix first introduced their streaming movie service, I wasn't very impressed because most of the movies offered were B-movies. After reading this news yesterday I checked the netflix site and they offer many more streaming movies than in the past. How much it gets used will likely depend on the picture quality I'm able to get via the 360.

Scanning the other E3 news,

Scanning the other E3 news, I've yet to see anything official from Microsoft on the rumored motion controller for the 360. I'm personally hoping for a Wii type remote for the 360 but think the 360 motion controller (if it ever comes out) will likely be more like the PS3 sixaxis controller.

I'd love to play first person shooters on the 360 with a Wii type controller. My favorite game for any system in years has been Resident Evil 4 for the Wii. The graphics are exceptionally good for the Wii (although from what I've heard they're not any better than the original Gamecube version of the game), but what makes the game is the Wii controls.

It would be nice but you

It would be nice but you still need to have the Gold Service xbox live subscription to even use it.

I've heard the picture

I've heard the picture quality, though not HD yet, is good with the Roku Netflix box, so I would expect a box with as much horsepower as the Xbox 360 should do as good, if not a better job with it. I'm quite looking forward to this. I was just about to get myself a Roku box but since I have a 360, I'll wait for that to happen. I don't mind the whole thing about having to be a Gold member to use it, as you can pick up Gold membership cards for cheap depending where you shop.

The BIG "if" in all this is going to be download speeds for these streaming movies, especially once Netflix goes HD.

I'm not much for online

I'm not much for online gaming, so my only Xbox Gold experiences so far have been with free months I've gotten as I purchased games. I started looking for the best deal on a gold subscription when this Netflix deal was announced. Best deal I could find was from Newegg. $39.99 for 13 months plus free 3 day shipping, so $3.07/month. Even without doing much online gaming, I figure at that pirce it's worth it if I only watch a couple of movies via Netflix streaming each month. Just placed my order with the intent of activating as soon as the Netflix option goes live.

I haven't tried this

I haven't tried this product, but it is supposed to work without the Xbox Gold subscription. It does require Vista with media center. http://myweb.cableone.net/eluttmann04/projects/vmcNetFlix/default.htm

Buy.com is pretty good too.

Buy.com is pretty good too. I picked one up for $38.99 then a few weeks later, they were $34.99 for a couple days (I think it was for some holiday sale). If you subscribe to buy.com's email list, you get a list of all the good deals every few days and the gold cards are usually in there if they're on sale.

Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to streaming Netflix to my 360. My wife watches those movies all the time on the computer and the selection is getting quite a bit better. plus some of the B movies are amusing to watch just for the terrible acting and special effects (usually helps to have a few beers in you too). It definitely keeps us away from Hollywood video when all of our Netflix movies are in the mail (the thought of paying $4 to watch a movie once just kills me).
