By digital TV do you mean a
By digital TV do you mean a digital converter box or digital cable? If its the converter box, the "master volume" will actually be controlled on the television set itself, but you will also be able to control the volume on the coverter box too. Set the tv set volume at least half way up, maybe more, then only use the converter box to adjust volume.
Maybe this is not related,
Maybe this is not related, but I've noticed that I have to turn the volume down when I switch from analog channels to digital channels (on Time Warner Cable). I've heard from someone in Green Bay that has the same higher volume level on digital channels. I'm not sure why that would be.
Thanks for the advice. I
Thanks for the advice. I figured out what was wrong--I set the converter box on audio out, not on RF out. The volume got louder after I set it on RF out. Thanks again.

This might also belong cross-posted to your Cable Nightmares forum....
I am in the same situation as Andy. Once I pass 126 or so, the volume goes way down. Of course, I called TW on this several times, and they go through their normal, scripted responses and resets with no resolution. 3 times now I have been told it is due to my "return" signal being too low. And 3 times now, they have done nothing to fix it. They did come out once (out of 3 times) and replace all the RG connectors in my house since they claimed I was using "cheap" connectors from Walmart. They then ran a new cable above ground from my backyard to my customer box and left t laying there in the grass. I called and asked when they were coming to fix it or bury the new cable - they said they would schedule it for mid-June (I called in April). ell, I told them my neighbor will probably run it over with his lawnmower before then and they had the idiot response of "well, if that happens, call our customer service and they can assist you in tleubleshooting the issue". Are you kidding me? I said, "well if that happens, the cabel would be torn to shreds by the lawnmower... and that would probably be why my cable doesn't work, right?" The tech (and that's being generous") said (and I am not kdding here) "maybe you should ask your neighbor not to mow his lawn until we come on the scheduled date to bury the cable." Wow... Einstein works at Time Warner.
Anyways... if anyone knows how to fix the volume issue, it would be a great help.
using your time warner
using your time warner remote hit the settings buttong twice. this should open the general settings screen. From there go down to audio volume control and make sure it is on fixed. when it is fixed the volume would be turned all the way up on the box so you can control the volume on the tv. when it is set to fixed go up to audio range on the general settings screen and make sure it is on narrow. this should fix and audio issues you are having. also if when you turn on your cable box though time warner and it goes to channel 74 go into the general settings screen and go to veiwer power on and you can set it to any channel you would like. if you would like you cable box to turn onto the last channel you were wacthing you can find the last channel option which is right next to channel 1. thanks

I have the low volume
I have the low volume problem big time with Uverse. Some channels that are effected are Discovery Health, channel 2, Food network, when I had it, Showtime was about the lowest. They finally fixed channel 11, think 5 might have gone down in volume since they switched to only digital, and probably more I can't think of at the moment. My parents bought me a nice new 19-inch LCD TV for Christmas and using component or coax doesn't make a lot of difference. Is there some kind of device I can buy to send a lowder audio signal to the TV? Also, when the emergency tones interrupt the program, the one that is a set of 3 10 second tones that never have any audio for an alert, those blast so loud that I'm sure the neighbors hear them. Not only that, I'd like to not blow out the speaker on my new TV. Thanks.
Thanks.
I just picked up an Access
I just picked up an Access HD 1050D digital to analog converter and the output volume is terribly low. I have the 1050's volume set to maximum, but it's RCA L/R output is still half what it should be going into the amp. The volume isn't any better on the RF coaxial cable, although the sound is much muddier that way. I don't know if it's this particular brand of box or if it's something else. It doesn't matter which channel I'm on, all the output is terribly low.
Sounds like you are trying
Sounds like you are trying to control the volume through the TV instead of the converter box. I like to turn the volume on the TV to 100% and then control the volume with he converter box. I should mention that this TV is in my kitchen and is not used with a DVD player or anything else, so I don't have to worry about being blasted away by sound.
I have the converter box
I have the converter box going into my A/V receiver like the rest of my audio and video equipment. The digital converter box is set at its maximum volume setting yet still is less than half the volume output that it should be. The box simply does not put out an adequate audio signal, showing on a signal meter that it is at least 20dB below a proper output level for component level audio.
Unfortunately the higher the TV or Receiver is turned up, the more transient noise is amplified as well.
Just out of curiosity, did
Just out of curiosity, did you try connecting it directly to the TV to see if the problem goes away. Also you may want to try a different input or cable, which could be the problem.
