I just bought a 42" Olevia from Target. I currently have the basic package from Time Warner Cable, so I get SD channels 2-13, and WGN.
However, when I ran the automatic channel search, it came up with some airwave channels ABC, NBC, CBS, and the WBAY weather station. The numbers don't match, though - for example, CBS is 5-1 but on my TV the channel is 90-5. That's ok, as long as I can find the stations I'm looking for.
The problem is, I can't find WLUK in HD. I watch FOX probably more than any other channel (though I must say, I have become a casual college basketball fan through this process).
On this site it says WLUK is 11-1, but that is not a station on my TV's tuner.
I told the auto search to check channels coming through cable, not air. I wonder if I'm accidentally picking up extra signals from the cable company? I don't think I'm supposed to get 4 PBS stations, VS, Spike, and TBS, but I'm not complaining...
Any ideas about how I can get my TV to bring up 11-1? If nothing else, I'll just buy an antenna, but I'd rather find how my tuner's channels correlate with the numbers listed on this site.
Any help is appreciated, but if I can't figure it out, it's not the end of the world.
Thanks!

Before I had the Time Warner
Before I had the Time Warner HD package, I was able to pick up the locals in HD as well (but not WLUK) sans antenna. I don't remember the station numbers right off the top of my head, but do remember thinking it was some sort of bonus for those with HDTVs but no current HD service. I even had HGTV HD for a few days, but then the signal went dark.
EDIT:
CBS - 90.2
ABC - 112.1
NBC - 112.3
plus the PBS channels and a few others.
The 11-1 channel number is
The 11-1 channel number is WLUK's over-the-air channel number (actually the physical channel number is 51 but your TV will map it to 11-1).
You are seeing the local HD channels Time Warner carries, and WLUK is not one of them. I don't know if you have a TV that has two coaxial cable inputs. If you do, you'll need an antenna connected to get WLUK. If you have one input and have cable connected to it, you will not get WLUK HD.
Time Warner is required to provide local HD channels unscrambled to everyone. The channel number they're on in Time Warner's lineup will be in the 90-100 range. They won't be 2-1, 11-1, 26-1, etc. Sometimes they also leave open some other channels, and if you let your TV do a channel scan, you'll probably see a bunch of weird channels up in the high number range. Last summer, they accidentally left the Game 4 Channel of the MLB Extra Innings package open too. The only channels you should expect to see, though, are WBAY-HD, WFRV-HD, WGBA-HD and WPNE (you should see 5 WPNE channels). Anything else you see is just a lucky bonus. ;)
Thank you for the responses.
Thank you for the responses. I have been able to receive a few "bonus" channels that may or may not come in, depending on the day.
I only have the one coaxial cable input, but a friend of mine told me he has a high def antenna that has in input and an output, so he's able to watch cable and air signals with one TV input.
So, if Time Warner started carrying WLUK in HD, I could probably expect to be pick it up using my current setup?
I would say yes. Don't hold
I would say yes. Don't hold your breath to see it anytime soon, though.
