Time Warner Cable may not be the sole home of free HD anymore, but satellite customers are going to have to jump through some hoops to get it.
According to TV Predictions, DISH Network and DirecTV have both recently announced promotions eliminating their respective "HD Access" fees, which customers pay to enable high-definition channel access. However, both providers appear to be limiting the waived fee offer to those who sign two-year contracts and enroll in automatic credit card payments.
The free HD offer, of course, does not cover the costs of HD premium channels or HD-only tiers.

I have Dish Network and I
I have Dish Network and I have been given the Free HD without signing a new contract.
Cant believe im paying so
Cant believe im paying so much for TV. Its a frickin car payment! How did this happen?
Arent we kinda past this HD technology phase. Hasn't HD been out long enough where almost all of us have it. Who goes out and buys a TV now a days and dosnt purchase HD quality.
If these cable and satellite companies ran the auto industry, we would still be paying extra for power steering and radios in our cars.
Just my opinion of course...
