Well, well, well. It looks like WBAY has stepped up to the early 2000's plate and started transmitting Dolby Digital 5.1 audio streams over its HD feed.
I received a text message from a buddy in Charter territory a little after 7PM tonight saying it finally happened. After first berating him for watching "The Deep End" I tuned to 1003 on the TWC HDDVR and sure enough, Dolby Digital lit up on the trusty Onkyo receiver. I switched over to the OTA feed and Dolby Digital remained active.
I never thought this day would come but it looks like I'll be able to "enjoy"(if that is still possible) the last season of Lost in actual High Def picture and sound. Too bad there isn't anything else worth watching on ABC now that that the college football season is over.
IMHO, the mix sounded a little wonky on both CATV and OTA but it was still a million times better than no surround sound.

I was so happy to see that
I was so happy to see that during LOST!
