Redbox and now Blockbuster Express too

Formally the Appleton area, now living in the Wausau area

I was getting gas at a Kiwk Trip today in Mosinee, WI and noticed they had a Blockbuster Express kiosk outside the store. This is the first time I have seen or heard that Blockbuster did this. Looks like it is the same thing as a Redbox kiosk. I checked for locations on their website and it seems like Wausau, Stevens Point and La Crosse are the only areas in Wisconsin that have them right now and they seem to be all at Kwik Trips.

I have never used either Redbox or Blockbuster Express, what are your thoughts?

I am an avid Redbox user. In a way, I use it as a new release supplement to my Netflix account. I check the new releases every Tuesday and do an online reservation so I can stop by my nearest Redbox and pick them up. I love them.

Only had problems with them twice. Once was picking up an online reservation at a kiosk that was out of order when I got there (called the 800 number from the box and they moved my reservation to another nearby box). Other time, I couldn't get a kiosk to accept my return. I called the 800 number and they gave me a free night, so I could return it to another kiosk the next day.

I only really have two qualms about Redbox. The first is that they don't have Blu-ray rentals in this area yet. The second is not really their fault, and it's that Fox, Universal and Warner Bros are being greedy and not allowing their discs to be sold to Redbox for $1 rentals. (Not sure if they're doing this with Blockbuster Express) It's usually not a big deal, as it seems Redbox manages to get around this and will offer those studios' titles after a week or two. I don't remember the last time I went into an actual brick-and-mortar video store, really.

I have seen a couple random, no-name DVD rental kiosks here and there. There's a gas station on Highway 29 somewhere between Wausau and Chippewa Falls that has one. The Woodman's in Green Bay has one too.
