Another recent update to its legal notifications page hints at a whole new crop of highly-desirable HD channels also on the horizon.
According to the page, Time Warner Cable is likely to add seven HD channels from Viacom, including MTV HD, Comedy Central HD, Spike HD, BET HD, Nickelodeon HD, VH1 HD, and CMT HD. It is unknown whether these channels were secured as part of the recent public contract spat between the parties or negotiated separately. If added, all seven channels would likely be available to all customers with a digital cable box, as all these channels fall under standard cable.
Most channels mentioned on Time Warner's legal notifications page in the recent past have since been added to the lineup. Another handful of channels we recently discovered to be in Time Warner's pipeline may be coming this week.

I sure hope there's no truth to this. Take a look at these channels--they're rubbish. Would YOU watch these channels? I hope , if they do pick them up, that they make them a pay-for package. Then they'll see how unpopular the additional channels are !

Do you ever have anything positive to say? I would watch Comedy Central. VH1 would be good if it went back to its original ways instead of what it currently is. I guess you could say the same about MTV.
I personally don't see what is wrong with this potential lineup. Each channel has a large following even if it may not be your particular taste. They could add every sports channel in HD and it would make no difference to me but I would be glad they added them because I know there would be a large number of people that would enjoy them.

Just recalculated HD channel counts. If I'm adding them up correctly and my database of national HD channels is all up to date (pretty sure it is), and if Time Warner adds these channels and the rest that are still supposed to be coming... Time Warner will edge out both satellite providers by two HD channels. Who thought that'd happen?

Yes, if you'd take the time to look at some of my comments, you'd actually observe positive ones. When we start getting these stupid, low-viewed channels, I don't think I'm alone in feeling that we're not really receiving anything special. I might see some good with Nick HD and possibly Comedy Channel HD, but VH1, MTV, BET,CMT, and Spike ? C'mon !
I'd like to see more channels showing good one-hour drama shows,quality sit-coms, good movies, like USA, TNT, FX HD A & E are doing now. If I had a bit more time right now, I'm sure I'd come up with at least an equal number of quality channels that they could add which I, at least, would enjoy.

Looking at the list of channels others have that Time Warner doesn't yet have, there really aren't that many out there that fit your bill. Most are ancillary movie channels, sports channels and such. I too would love to see more channels like that, but I can't think of what those would be. I am looking forward to Nick HD, Comedy Central HD and maybe some of the others from time to time.

I don't see how VH1, MTV, BET, and CMT are low viewed channels. MTV and VH1 would have a very strong teen/young adult following and I know a lot of people who like country music even though I don't care for it. And even though I don't like country music I have watch programing on CMT. I think this would be robust lineup that many people would like.

In the past few months I've seen all 6 of the Star Wars movies in HD. Not that fake stretched HD junk like from Food or HGTV... true HD! To me, that was worth it right there.
Of course, I've had Spike, Comedy Central (which is very overrated), Nick, and many more for quite a while now because I'm on U-Verse.

Dude, you need to check out the neilsen ratings these are some of the most watched channels in america its business man, you obviously dont have a gf and cant get laid becuase you are too worried about channels people like being in hd. Ill bet you said "it's about time when the Sci-Fi channel went HD. Now if you will excuse my girl and i are going to bed unfortunatley without Comedy central in HD but we will still get it on!!!

With the Daily Show and
With the Daily Show and Colbert Report going HD in January, South Park in HD, and new episodes of Futurama coming (probably in HD) I'd love to see Comedy Central HD come to Time Warner. I was surprised with the amount of Comedy Specials they also had in HD. It's pretty much the only channel left that I miss since I left U-Verse.
