Nat Geo HD

Anyone watch this channel? In which case you can answer this question. Latley when I have been watching the channel, every now and again during the show the sound will almost go to mute, and I hear what sounds like a phone dialing. I have heard this before but it happens about 5 times an hour when I am watching my programming. Anyone else notice this?

I hear the same thing a lot

I hear the same thing a lot on WPNE I believe. If I remember right, I believe on WPNE it is to trigger local affiliates' "legal ID" graphic on the top or bottom of the hour.

For NatGeo, do you notice a particular pattern? For example, does it seem to happen in the middle of programming or just before breaks? If it's just before breaks, my guess would be some sort of trigger for locally-inserted ads.

I'm not quite sure when they

I'm not quite sure when they actually happen, currently the channel is on right now and have not heard a peep. From what I can remember it just happend at random times throughout the show, never during the commericals. Odd they can't fix that though. I'll let you when I notice them.

This is an occasional issue

This is an occasional issue with the 8300HDC converters that can be fixed by a re-boot (unplug box and plug back in, wain 4 min until the time comes back.). By the way, it only will occur with the HDMI connection. With the regular audio outs or the digital audio out this doesn't occur.

Well then here is another

Well then here is another odd thing to hear if you say it only happens with HDMI. This is at my mom's house, and it's just hooked up with HD component cables. I watched it today for a bit, only heard one, right after the last commercial before the show came back on.

Well, OK here is why I said

Well, OK here is why I said that. I have had the same problem on a few of the time warner channels, it was very bad. I have the 8300HDC converter HDMI connected to an HDTV via HDMI and the digital audio out to a surround sound recvr. When I was experiencing the audio problem, it was on the TV only. I switched over to the receiver (digital audio out from the TWC box) and there wer no issues. Then I switched back to the TV sound (HDMI) and the problem was still there until I rebooted the box. I apologize I didn't actually check the stereo analog audio outputs. Although reading my post I did say that. My apologies.
