Looks like Charter can take its time installing that new Big Ten Network HD equipment.

According to the Big Ten Network's website, this week's season opening game between Wisconsin and Akron will not be available in HD.  The following game on September 6th will be available in high-def, however.

Sorry to burst your bubble, HD cable customers.

What about us dish people??

What about us dish people?? Is this just for cable subs??

Its the channel as a whole.

Its the channel as a whole. It doesnt matter who u have as a provider. Its up to the station.

This is due to the fact that

This is due to the fact that the big 10 network isn't even using HD equipment to cover the game with. You could also say that the game is simply not being "produced" or "telecast" in HD. It has nothing to do with your cable or satellite provider.

Will they show the non-hd

Will they show the non-hd version of the game on the hd channel? I am having Dishnetwork installed tomorrow and went with the turbo hd package, which means I won't have access to the sd channel.

@ the last Anonymous post- I

@ the last Anonymous post- I don't know the answer to your questions, but please post your take on the Turbo HD package once you get in installed. I'd looking closely at that package just because of price. It's missing a couple of channels that I'd like (some channels that are only available in SD), but it appears as if Dish can quickly get kind of pricey when you start mixing their SD and HD packages.

EDIT: Double post- not sure

EDIT: Double post- not sure how that happened.

Just to let everyone who has

Just to let everyone who has Charter know, Big Ten Network is already on the air throughout the state. In the Fond du Lac area it's on channel 73 for standard def and 795 for HD. Looks like a lot of their programming is in HD. Too bad this Saturday's Badger game isn't.

No Big Ten (or ESPNU) on TWC

No Big Ten (or ESPNU) on TWC yet- at least not on my box.

I reset my box this morning

I reset my box this morning and didn't see them either. According to their radio spots, Big Ten is supposed to launch tomorrow. That would be a big mess for them if the game was being transmitted in HD, as historically not all customers have seen new HD channels show up right on launch day. I think 72 should show up tomorrow though. I was going to return my equipment to TWC today but I think I'll hang onto it until tomorrow (also because Bill Maher is back on HBO tonight).

I doubt ESPNU is coming just yet, though I couldn't say for sure. Just because Time Warner corporate signs agreements doesn't mean the channels show up on local franchises. It took a good year before we got Food Network HD though an agreement was actually in place.
