I read over at EngadgetHD.com that some folks are starting to see their LIN Television stations popping up today on DirecTV.

Anyone around here see WLUK HD on yours?

Forgot to add I called into DirecTV and they have no timeline for our area but feel that since a deal was reached it should happen fairly quickly.

Thanks for the update.

Don't know why it's taking so long for Green Bay when most other LIN markets are live right now, but hopefully it'll be up and running soon.

Contrary to my post from yesterday, rumor has it that WLUK-HD went live today. I haven't seen it personally but I've seen reports from a number of people who have.

I have the HD version as well. I had to turn off "Hide SD Duplicates" to verify that there were two channels. Also, if you forward ahead in the guide to "Jeopardy" or "Wheel of Fortune" tomorrow afternoon, the "HD" indicator should show -- those are the only HD shows coming up soon.

Actually if you hit the GUIDE button twice it brings up categories and you can select HDTV Channels. You wont have to turn off Hide SD duplicates.

SD DUPLICATES: First of all

SD DUPLICATES:

First of all this is one thing I love about DirecTV over TWC. The HD channel and SD channel are the same channel.. none of this channel 11 for WLUK, wait... bad example, channel 2 for WBAY and 702 for WBAY HD.

Anyway...

On your remote hit MENU
Then Choose:
Parental, Fav's & Setup
System Setup
Display
Preferences Tab select Guide HD Channels: Hide SD Duplicates

Well it funny that the two

Well it funny that the two shows that are currently in HD are WOF and Jeopardy and those shows are not full 16X9, they are actually in what I call an SD format with the bars on the side, like how Good Day Wisconsin is since it is not an HD broadcast but Hells Kitchen for example which is not showing HD in the guide is a full 16X9 but must be a stretched SD version. Very strange. I have not seen this before on the local stations.

I just hope when 24, prison break come back they are full 16X9 :) I am sure they are.

Actually, Wheel of Fortune

Actually, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy are not aired on WLUK in HD presently. I don't believe that WLUK has the ability to air local and syndicated programs in HD, yet. Network programs are aired in High Def, but not local programs. Every other Green Bay station is presently in the same boat, airing Network in HD, but not local and syndicated programming. I'm sure it's coming, but we'll have to wait and see as to when. And as to Hell's Kitchen, it is presented in SD Widescreen so it's not stretched it is in true 16x9, just not in high definition. FOX typically does the same thing with their FOX NFL Sunday Pregrame shows, COPS (it will go HD next season), and many of their non-scripted shows (aside from American Idol).

Keith: It looks good to me. Obviously a great improvement over what it was. I like the colors, the bug on the right with the simple temp and time, the panning out, and the text scroll at the bottom....
TvBoy: Damn, For as long as it took to get that thing launched, I was pretty disappointed. Not that impressive. Better than the last set, but not worth the price paid.
