Greetings,
Since the update I cannot find the setting I used to have called Auto DVI/HDMI. With that set, it allowed the non-hd channels to be handled by my television set's stretch feature, while passing through the hd signal properly for hd channels.
It seems my only option now is to have to manually stretch the non hd channels if I want them to fill the screen, and then turn the stretch off when viewing a HD channnel.
How does everybody else deal with this? Do you just watch the non-channels un-streched/zoomed?

Got the update this morning
Got the update this morning and am now seeing what you're talking about. Found it weird this morning on both my HD DVRs (both attached to newer-model LCD HDTVs) that on 480p channels, the picture appeared extremely squashed horizontally. I thought there was something wrong with the aspect setting on the box, but found that I had to go into each TV's stretch option and set it differently to bring the 4:3 aspect ratio out to normal (not fully filling the 16:9 screen but rather 4:3 appearing normal, not compressed inwards).
Is that what you're talking about?
What I ended up doing on my 720p Apex TV was selecting ONLY 720p as an output resolution. Not only did it make the SD channels appear properly 4:3 proportioned, but it didn't flicker when I tuned between 480i/p and HD channels. Not sure what I'll set my 1080p Vizio at (maybe 720p AND 1080i) but it seems to handle the SD channels better. If you want to stretch out a 4:3 show to fill the 16:9 frame, you're probably going to have to set 480i / 480p as output resolutions though. I did see there was an auto setting as well but I didn't play around with it yet.
If you want to automatically
If you want to automatically stretch the non-HD channels it appears the Picture size in the display settings will let you specify stretch as a preference. It does not appear to apply to the HD channels as they do not seem to stretch.
It might be that stretch
It might be that stretch settings act differently depending on what resolution you're on when you set it. You can (and always have been able to) toggle stretch by hitting the # key on your remote, and stretch/zoom does work on the HD channels when you do that.
