more HD channels on Time Warner

Ok, so during the Olympics I got Universal HD and USA HD, which was nice. I usually watch Monday Night Raw so that was a nice treat for two weeks.

Why don't we get USA HD all the time? It seems like there are a lot of HD channels that are standard with other services that we don't get.

A friend of mine that lives not too far away has Charter and gets HDNet. He was really surprised when I told him I don't get HDNet. Is there a better package I need to get with Time Warner.

Also, does anyone else have trouble receiving some cable HD channels all the time with Time Warner? There are many times that I have tuned to an HD channel that I have watched before and it says service unavailable. Then the next day I will be able to watch this same HD channel.

In my opinion, that is unacceptable.

Universal HD and HDNet are

Universal HD and HDNet are available on a special tier that is something like $7 a month.

I have heard from many people that have gotten the "service unavailable" message you're seeing, and have seen it myself frequently. Some of my Food Network HD recordings were only partially recorded, and I suspect that was a culprit.

When you get the "service

When you get the "service unavailable" error, tune to a different channel and then tune back to the one that you were getting the error on and it should come in. You might have to do that 3 or 4 times before it works. No idea what's causing it, but TWC when I called them about it didn't seem concerned as the channels do all come in eventually.

I liked HDNet and the HDNet Movie channel (I think that's what it was called) when I got them for a couple of days for free when I first got my box, but not enough to pay extra for them.

Welcome to the world of TWC

Welcome to the world of TWC and the switched HD channels. I have had several occasions where things would not record or record a couple of minutes and then you get the rest of the time as nothing. I was never able to figure out what was wrong with it but I think it has something to do with the "service unavailable" error that pops up a lot.

Actually HDNET is included

Actually HDNET is included as part of the HD package with U-Verse. So is HDNet Movies and Universal HD. Mojo HD isn't however, because it's not yet carried by U-Verse, which is not surprising considering that Mojo is owned by the cable companies.

Considering that TWC gives

Considering that TWC gives you HD for "free" they won't seem concerned when the service in unavailable.

I've had the "service unavailable" message many times and lost a few recordings because of it.

The big thing that I can not stand about the TWC DVR is that every time the guide gets a late update or the Firmware gets updated, my entire scheduled recordings get screwed up and I have to spend hours recreating them.

Have you contacted them

Have you contacted them about this? If not, I would highly recommend it.

Keith: It looks good to me. Obviously a great improvement over what it was. I like the colors, the bug on the right with the simple temp and time, the panning out, and the text scroll at the bottom....
TvBoy: Damn, For as long as it took to get that thing launched, I was pretty disappointed. Not that impressive. Better than the last set, but not worth the price paid.
